2000s Rave Grand Rapids Concert reviews
Still rockin' strong
After all these years, what a treat to see these guys.
The Static Shift, the warm-up band, were pretty damned good. They created the perfect energy in preparation for 2000s Rave with a big, classic rock sound and some cool musical influences.
Compared to some aging rockers, The Cult were very good. Ian Astbury's vocals are still going pretty strong, and I love the tone of his voice. His range seems more limited these days, so some of my favorite songs were altered to fit his register. Also, he can't sustain notes in the same way I have seen with Mick Jagger and Steven Tyler. Nonetheless, it was a solid show packed with old and new, and the set list was awesome. The musicians were all fabulous, and it was great to see Billy Duffy in particular. I love his guitar sound.
